Carmen Capriles of Reacción Climática writes about how the last five decades an agenda to achieve gender equity has been introduced but with few results. This is due to a lack of its effective implementation that could guarantee women’s basic rights. The new sustainable development agenda may not solve all the issues but a new era has begun where the major obstacles for women are no longer invisible. There is a hope for the new agenda to be adequately implemented but only by empowering women at all levels and by pushing for a strong political will from Governments to guarantee women’s rights.
