Mother of six, Cherri Foytlin of Rayne, Louisiana, describes one of the moment that impelled her into intensive work for climate justice – when during clean up efforts following the BP oil spill, she held an oil soaked, dying pelican in her arms. For the health of her children, the climate, and the rights of Indigenous people, she began engaging in non-violent direct action and advocacy in solidarity with movements across the country, including the Keystone XL fight, Idle No More movement, and Occupy movement.
