Increasingly the European Union as a political bloc is elevating the issue of power relations between men and women that determine access and control over natural resources. Gender also is an important consideration in the design and implementation of adaptation and mitigation measures as responses to climate change. Given its powerful influence over international multilateral climate policy spaces such as the UNFCCC, it is imperative for the bloc to think and work harder about using its role for positive structural transformation for women especially in the fight against climate change.
