Monique Verdin, a member of the Mississippi River Deltas indigenous Houma nation, represented the Native American Houma National Council at Shell’s annual shareholder meeting in 2016. With the support of the Indigenous Environmental Network and the UK Tar Sands Network, she presented a pop-up exhibition of professional photos showing the impacts of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and oil and gas infrastructure in the Mississippi Delta to advocate for an end to extraction.
