As the president of the National Inuit Youth Council, Maatalii Okalik is a voice for young Inuit people. She has advocated for Inuit perspectives at the United Nations COP21 climate conference in 2015, and in April 2016 she won the Outstanding Young Woman Award from Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council for her strong leadership.
