The Hmong are an ethnic group native to several countries, including Vietnam. Many Hmong live in the northern areas of the country, where a combination of climate change and detrimental farming methods have contributed to a substantial deforestation of the region. In 2019, Khang A Tua and Mua Thi Mua launched a project called Ná Nả in order to reduce the impact of droughts, floods and landslides. Through the use of local traditions and knowledge, the project aims to provide effective solutions for these communities while generating sustainable sources of income, especially for younger generations and women. At the same time, Mua and Tua have also started a series of workshops on traditional practices and helped farmers to learn and employ more sustainable farming methods.
