Catherine Flowers is a long-time environmental justice fighter in her hometown. After seeing poor communities disproportionately affected by sewage and then threatened with eviction or arrest if they did not obtain unaffordable septic systems, Catherine negotiated with Alabama’s state government to end unjust enforcement policies.
