The Women’s March on Washington in January 2017, planned in response to the election of the U.S. Trump Administration, brought together thousands of woman from across the US, and around the world, standing for women’s rights, racial equality, environment and other vital causes. Profiling women leaders such as Cindy Wiesner of the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, A. Tianna Scozzaro of Sierra Club, Bridget Burns of Women’s Environment and Development Organization, and representatives of the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network – this article explores why women marched for climate justice as part of the Women’s March, and how women around the world are both disproportionately affected by climate change, and essential to solutions.
