The destruction of the environment continues despite the efforts made by governments, stakeholders and legislators to prevent it, argues the Earth Law Center. The goal of the Rights of Nature is to expand justice until all beings on Earth are efficiently protected by the law. In a Rights of Nature legal system, people have the legal authority to enforce these rights on behalf of ecosystems. Many argue that ecosystems are not humans and therefore they cannot have rights.
