In this interview, Rabia Ferroukhi, senior policy advisor at the International Renewable Energy Agency, discusses how governments and businesses should amplify women’s participation in the renewable energy sector. She highlights how women—often suffering from extreme poverty—can gain relief from long hours of household labor, reduced vulnerability to indoor air pollution, and employment through renewable energy. She shares recent government efforts to enable women’s success, such as gender audits in the energy sector, access to funding and training, and gender equity in the labor market.
