Mrs. Hadizatou Ebiliki and women in her community are breaking down gender barriers and building climate-resilient income streams via sewing. Recurrent droughts, inconsistent rainfall and climate change are impacting the stability of Niger’s economy, forcing people to migrate and look for alternative sources of income. Sewing provides one such alternative livelihood. Women like 16-year-old Halima Ousseïni are able to acquire skills to hold a stable sewing job, unthreatened by the climate crisis.
