In rural Haiti, EarthSpark brings a feminist electrification lens to its work, amplifying women’s engagement in the electrification process through involvement in infrastructure planning, workforce training, business ownership support, and access to clean technologies to improve health and quality-of-life impacts. As illustrated by the Haitian proverb fanm se poto mitan (“women are the pillars of society”), women’s participation in infrastructure projects significantly improves project sustainability, management, work environment, and investment returns.
