As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, Indigenous women leaders Dina Júc and Yuam Pravia are interviewed on the importance of women’s leadership in struggles to protect Indigenous rights and land rights. Dina Júc is a Maya Pocomchi’ woman from Guatemala, who has acted as a leader of the Association Ut’z Che’ in the fight against forceful evictions from so-called “Protected Areas”. Yuam Pravia, a representative of the Miskitu people of Honduras, has been central to the communities efforts to defend legal titles to their lands in the face of deforestation.
