Julia Olson of the legal non-profit “Our Children’s Trust” is suing the federal government and agencies like EPA for neglecting to act on climate change. Olson maintains that the U.S. government has been aware of climate change and its impacts on people since George Bush took office, yet did nothing. Carbon dioxide levels have increased from 220 ppm to 440 ppm from 1789-2013. Olson argues that the government is clearly violating the right of the kids to live sustainable lives by permitting the use and development of non-renewable energy sources like coal.
