Long treks and hours dedicated to fetching water for her family have long characterized Sita Shrestha’s life in Chiluane, Nepal. The aftermath of the devastating 2015 earthquake led to the mysterious disappearance of many water springs in Shrestha’s village. With the last remaining water spout in danger of complete contamination and or drying up, Sita harnessed the power of community organizing to work with villagers to improve the conditions of the remaining spout.
