In the lead-up to the Paris climate meeting (COP21), UN Women together with the UNFCCC secretariat and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) facilitated an experts meeting in order to encourage the incorporation of gender perspectives related to the climate process. The meeting outcome stressed the importance of supporting women’s leadership and agency in climate responses and ensuring that the related mechanisms were alive to the ways in which different women experience climate change and the material structures needed to support them.
