Women Environmental Defenders Condemn Systemic Violence Before The Inter-American Commission On Human Rights

A delegation of women environmental advocates appeared before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to denounce systemic violence against environmental land defenders. Among those testifying were Juliana Bravo Valencia, Amazon Program Coordinator for EarthRights International,  Joan Martínez Alier, Naomi Klein and Esperanza Martinez Yanez and Ivonne Ramos from Acción Ecológica. The timing of the hearing was meaningful for environmental defenders, as several governments in the Americas have prioritized the welfare of corporations over human rights.
