Women On The Front Lines Fighting Fracking In The Bakken Oil Shale Formations

Indigenous women are leading the grassroots resistance to stop fracking in North Dakota. where a rapidly growing industry has brought widespread damages to the land, as well as a sharp increase in violence against local women, girls and Indigenous communities who suffer as a result of the boom in oil extraction close to their homes. The Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network reports on time spent near Fort Berthold Reservation with local Indigenous woman protectors including Kandi Mossett (Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara) of the Indigenous Environmental Network.
