Thirteen-year-old Tokata Iron Eyes of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation joined thousands of Indigenous and non-Indigenous water protectors at the Red Warrior Camp in 2016. Iron Eyes hopes that people will recognize that the Standing Rock Movement is about not only Indigenous rights and protecting Indigenous communities, but also underscoring the bridge between water and life—and that by protecting water, we protect life.
