Cherri Foytlin, Indigenous leader with Bold Louisiana, is at the forefront of local efforts to build and sustain a peaceful encampment of protectors, standing in opposition to the Bayou Bridge pipeline, an Energy Transfer Partners project which would be the the tail end of a network of pipelines carrying tar sands-oil from Canada and North Dakota, down to Texas and Louisiana. Foytlin and hundreds of supporters are holding the space for community organizing, prayer, and creative strategy building, seeking to protect the vital wetlands of the region, and the lives and dignity of the residents who would be impacted.
